ATTRACTING new business is key to growth, but small businesses rely on existing clients for survival when the economy gets tough. A recent survey by Orange revealed 10pc of small businesses admitted they would be targeting their competitors' customers as part of a recession survival plan. This could be a costly mistake, as it costs around 10X as much to win new business as it does to retain existing business.
